MP Tavern Litchfield

Experience Connecticut history at Market Place Tavern, where original jail cells overlook your meal in this beautifully preserved landmark on the Litchfield Green. Built in 1812 to hold British prisoners of war, our building served as a working jail until 1992.

Today, the authentic cell blocks frame our three-story bar, while iron-barred windows and exposed brick walls tell the story of two centuries past. Leather booths, barn wood accents, and warm lighting create an unforgettable dining atmosphere.

We serve elevated American tavern fare alongside craft beers and cocktails featuring local spirits. Open seven days for lunch and dinner.

Reserve your cell – we mean table – today!
